The Unitarian Universalist Church in Marietta has been a leader in the community since its establishment in 1855. Their church, built in the same year, has been the cornerstone of the community to the present day. In a true pioneering spirit, they contacted Pickering Energy Solutions to discuss opportunities introduce and utilize renewable energy within their facility. After exploring options, the congregation’s representatives decided upon a solar system on the roof of their historic building.
The array comprises 44 Suniva 285W panels with Enphase M250 Microinverters for a combined DC array size of 12.32 kW. This system should offset 60-70% of their annual use.
They financed the project through a PPA which was sponsored by one of the parishioners, who will harvest the tax credits and make a donation of the array to the church. This is the type of creative financing which allows us to be able to introduce renewable energy to non-profit organizations.
Congratulations to the Unitarian Church and congregation for stepping out and introducing renewable energy into the Marietta community.
